10/27/09: Running again?

I started off the day with another Eoin Finn yoga practice. I’m finding it necessary to do yoga and meditate a bit in the morning. Since I’m taking things one day at a time, it does set the tone and help me get through the day.

In the afternoon, I decided to go to the gym and run on the treadmill. I am usually pretty nervous about running 2 days in a row, but would really like to work up to it. Plus, since I ran outside the day before, I figured the treadmill might be different enough..

When I ran, I ran pretty slowly. Slow and steady. Here’s what I did:

Walk 5 minutes

Run 20 minutes

Walk 5 minutes

I was very proud to run 20 minutes non stop. Now that I’ve done it on the treadmill, I’m going to work up to doing it outside. Then, I’ll increase the runs.

In November, I probably can’t afford new shoes, but I’m hoping around December’s payday, I can go get fitted at the running store for some really good shoes. My mileage will be increasing and I really need to be careful.

Oh, and one other thing: I weighed at the gym, in the afternoon and with my shoes on, and weighed 136.4. I can’t remember the last time I weighed so little. I really wish I had a scale at home so I could weigh barefoot in the morning….
